Entries Closed, Gathering Ahead: AAFF 2026 Moves Toward October

The 2026 call for films is complete. FilmFreeway now marks entries closed for the Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival, and attention turns toward the official festival dates: October 16–18, 2026.

This year’s theme is Kemet for the Kemetyu: At Home and Abroad. It brings questions of repatriation and responsibility into relationship with the festival’s four pillars: Revolution, Reclamation, Restoration, and Retribution.

The current official listing describes online screenings for a wide range of film and media forms, together with an in-person Gala and Awards gathering in Accra. Program and access information will continue to develop as selected works move toward the screen.

Filmmakers have submitted. Now audiences, cultural workers, educators, organizations, and supporters must prepare to gather. Return to the official AAFF site for current announcements and reserve October 16–18.
