Beyond the Screen: Open D.O.O.R. Dialogues Connects Culture to Institution-Building

A film can reveal a condition, preserve a memory, or help an audience imagine another future. The work after the screening is to connect that insight to people and institutions capable of acting on it. Open D.O.O.R. Dialogues creates one of those meeting grounds inside the wider Abibitumi ecosystem.

The Inaugural National Dialogue takes place on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Ghana at the University of Ghana College of Humanities. It will connect leaders, students, repatriates, entrepreneurs, investors, change makers, and media.

The program includes keynote addresses, diaspora repatriate perspectives, student recruitment, entrepreneurship and innovation, exhibitions, networking, and media engagement. These are the practical environments in which cultural ideas can meet education, enterprise, and public action.

For filmmakers and media workers, the dialogue is a reminder that representation is never separate from ownership or distribution. Who controls the story, who can act on it, and which institutions preserve its consequences are part of the same question.
