IAS Film Series: Concerning Violence

As part of the IAS Film Series, we invite you to a special screening of Concerning Violence, a bold and visually striking documentary that brings to life Frantz Fanon’s searing critique of colonialism.

Narrated by Lauryn Hill and based on Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth, this film weaves powerful archival footage of African liberation struggles with Fanon’s urgent words on resistance, identity, and the cost of freedom.

Following the screening, we will hold an open discussion on the relevance of Fanon’s thought in today’s world—from cultural decolonization to modern struggles for justice across Africa and the diaspora.
